#biology #science When an egg is released in the menstrual cycle it waits to be fertilized by the sperm in it's luteal phase. When a male sex cell reaches the ova a process called gestation begins.

Process

After fertilization, the egg cell travels down the fallopian tubes to copy and divide into tissue needed for the embryo called a blastocyst. In around 3 days, the blastocyst implants into the uterus. After this, the placenta begins to form to provide to the embryo.
