#biology #science An offspring can genetically or environmentally inherit variation

Genetic

A child can inherit DNA from each parent. A Sperm and egg cell each contain half of the genetic data or chromosomes needed for an individual. These are hapaloids. During fertilization, both hapaloids combine to make the required number of chromosomes this is now a diploid

Environmental

Characteristics can be affected by climate, diet, culture etc to adapt to the environment. This is environmental variation.
