#science #chemistry A pure substance contains only one type of particle, such as 24k gold. Whilst a mixture contains 2 or more different particle types. In metals these are called alloys.

In order for a substance to be a mixture it must have these properties:

  • Can be separated with physical methods (See this 📂)
  • Can only have the properties of substances in the mixture
  • Separation is a physical change, so no chemical changes should occur. Mixture

An example of a mixture can be our air, made out of approximately 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and >1% carbon dioxide. air-composition
