Properties of alveoli

FeatureBenefit
Large surface areaLots of gas exchange can process simultaneously.
Lots of blood capillariesGases can move in and out of the blood easily.
One cell thick wallsDistance for gases to diffuse is short.
Moist wallsAllows gases to dissolve faster resulting in overall easier exchange.
